4 Benefits of Culligan Home Water Softener Systems

Hard water can be hard on both your house and you. Alleviate some of the problems by installing a Culligan home water softening system. Culligan Lake of the Ozarks can help reduce water contaminants, scale buildup, and electricity use in your home. Our water softeners are designed to extend the life of your appliances, deliver better-tasting water and make cleaning easier - learn more about the benefits of a Culligan home water softener system!

1. Easier Household Cleaning
When clothes and dishes are washed in hard water, they may end up with a soapy residue, streaks or white spots. Water softening helps rinse soap residue more thoroughly, leaving everything from your dishes to your hair and skin looking and feeling cleaner. Soft water from a Culligan water softeners can help reduce the scum and film left behind from soap, leaving your bathtubs, showers and sinks, cleaner and easier to clean.

2. Extended Appliance Life
Protect your appliances from hard water with a Culligan water softener. Operating water-using appliances with hard water allows minerals to be deposited within the appliance. Dishwashers, hot water heaters and washing machines may have a shorter lifespan due to corrosion and mineral buildup on their moving parts. Mineral buildup in pipes could also lead to low water pressure and inefficiency.

3. Lower Energy Bills
A Culligan water softener can help boost the operating power of your home's appliances, helping to reduce the cost of monthly expenses. Running soft water through your systems can also reduce the amount of soap and detergent you need for cleaning, which helps to lower expenses for these products.

4. Cleaner Plumbing System
Over time, hard water can leave your home's plumbing system riddled with scaly deposits and mineral buildup. Culligan water softeners can help to reduce mineral deposits and minimize buildup and reduce the risks of clogs and corrosion. Keep your shower heads and sink faucets looking and working like new with soft treated water.

Water Softening vs. Water Filtration

It’s not uncommon to question the difference between a water softener and a water filter, or, wonder which one would best benefit your home. We hear these questions often! Let’s begin by taking a closer look at what each of these solutions do, and how they can help your house.

Water Softeners

You may already know that water softeners transform your home’s water by removing hardness-causing minerals and contaminants like, magnesium and calcium. Some of the benefits of using a Culligan® Water Softener at the Lake of the Ozarks include: reduction of soap scum and scaling, reduction of hard water spots on glasses, shower doors and fixtures, cleaner skin, hair and brighter clothes, as well as, a lower water and electricity costs. Softeners typically use salt as the primary chemical agent in modifying the properties of water, while filtration can encompass many more methods to alter water, like reverse osmosis.

Water Filtration

Filtration systems employ more encompassing technologies to remove water pollutants. The Culligan® Water Filtration Systems remove contaminants from water, such as: iron, copper and other metals. As well as, industrial and pharmaceutical byproducts like pesticides or hormones, and dirt, silt and other sediments. Culligan offers a variety of water filters designed to target the specific challenges of your home’s water. The filtration systems range from smaller products that filter at the point-of-use, reverse osmosis filtration systems, and others.

How To Know Which One To Use

Since each of these solutions focus on different water-related issues, deciding on a softener or a filter should largely depend on what's in your water. For example, if lime scale buildup is a constant headache for you, that's usually a sign that your water is hard and a softener will alleviate some of those frustrations. If your water tastes or smells strange, a filter might be the more effective choice to remove culprit contaminants from your supply.

A Culligan® Water Softener can transform your home’s water from the shower to your laundry room and reduce the problems associated with hard water. Not only will you see noticeable changes to the quality of your water, but you may also notice big savings on your bills. A Culligan® Water Filtration System can solve the toughest of water problems, whether that is, smelly water due to sulfur or rust stains around the house cause by iron. Culligan Lake of the Ozarks is experienced with all types of water problems and you can rest assured that your family’s water is in good hands with your local Culligan Man! A good first step is to call your local Culligan Man and have him perform a water analysis. The testing is FREE and the results will help your Culligan specialist evaluate the best solution for you, whether it’s softening , filtration, or a combination of both.

Is Your Water Hard On Your Home?

A water softener may seem like an unnecessary addition to your home, but over time, hard water can drastically damage the quality of the house that you live in. Your Lake of the Ozarks Culligan Pros have seen this happen many times.

It happens slowly, so by the time the effects are evident, it could be too late. Simply installing a water softener in your home now can avoid costly repairs in the future.

What is hard water?

"Hard water" is water that contains a high mineral content. It is formed when water percolates through deposits of limestone and chalk, which are largely made up of calcium and magnesium carbonates. These elements are particularly problematic for the pipes and appliances in your house.

These minerals are all natural and not harmful for humans or animals if ingested, but your home does not handle them as easily. A water softener can lengthen the life and effectiveness of many different, important things in your home.

Pipes

Mineral deposits, often called "scale," attach to pipes as the water runs through them. This begins to build up over time, making the hole in the pipe smaller and blocking water flow. Once scale is attached to something, it is very difficult to remove.

This results in lower water pressure, which can be a great inconvenience. Worse than that, though, is the fact that sometimes this scale can begin causing small holes in pipes, resulting in leaks.

Appliances

You may notice the wear and tear of hard water on appliances a little sooner. The scale builds up in these, inhibiting the water flow and making it very hard for the individual pieces of the appliances to do their job.

The lower water pressure causes washing machines and dishwashers to fill much slower, lengthening the amount of time they need to work and increasing your water bill. Hard water is especially tough on water heaters. Once the scale buildup begins, the appliance's parts will begin to deteriorate rapidly.

Fixtures

Just like hard water can damage your skin and hair from the film it leaves behind, the fixtures in your home collect this same film. Once scale attaches itself to something, it becomes very tough to remove. You will notice a white film and spots on shower doors and faucets. This will cause your kitchen and bathroom to look dirty and dingy, and it can also cause them to tarnish.

Install a high quality Culligan water softener in your home!

Hard water can cause many problems for your home that will sneak up on you and could cost a lot of money to fix. Installing a water softener is an easy way to prevent these problems from happening. Your appliances will run better and the life of both them and the pipes in your home will remain in top condition for a much longer period of time.

Culligan Lake of the Ozarks offers the most advance and highest quality water softeners on the market today. Contact us to find out which type of water treatment system by Culligan is the right one for your home.
