1. Make It Fun
Make drinking water more fun for kids. You can get them a cool new cup with their favorite character on it to encourage them to drink more. In addition, you can freeze ice cubes into fun shapes to get them more excited about their water. There are a bunch of different tray shapes out there including mustaches, stars, animals, etc. While you may remember drinking chocolate milk out of a silly straw, who said you can't use them for water? You just never know what your kid may find entertaining, so it's worth a shot!
2. Add Some Color
Water has some tough competition with juices and soda when it comes to being colorful. Water shouldn't be pink, blue, purple or any other color. However, you can always make it that way by adding in some fresh fruit. You can either freeze the fruit into ice cubes or put slices of fruit or berries right into the water itself.
3. Play A Game
Who doesn't love a fun game? So, turn drinking water into a fun game for your kids. If they have a favorite cup, challenge them to drink to a certain level. If they're old enough, you could even teach them to pour themselves a glass of water. Be creative a come up with a way you can make water more fun for them.
4. Be A Role Model
There is no better way to encourage kids to drink more water than to do it yourself. Show your kids that water is "yummy" by drinking plenty yourself. How are you suppose to tell your kids to drink enough water if you're not drinking enough? Be a good role model by making sure you're drinking enough water right along with your kids.
5. Make It Taste Good
Who likes drinking icky water? The best way to make sure kids drink enough water is by making sure it tastes good. If you have clean, refreshing water that's easily available to them, they will hopefully be more encouraged to drink more.
